Has anyone used Wiley's study materials? I see a lot of comments about Gleim and how good it is. I used Wiley to study for my CPA exam and found it very good. Passed all four parts on the first sitting. It looks like Wiley's books are from 2005. Can that be right?
Any input about study materials would be greatly appreciated. I want to get thru this quickly and as prepared as I was for the CPA exam.
I passed parts 1 and 2 on the first try using only Wiley materials. For some reason, I got bogged down in their part 3 materials, and trashed that book. I started over with the IIA CIA Learning System part 3, and supplemented it with the Gleim practice questions. I'll take the test soon - and I'm cautiously optimistic!
Congratulations on passing the first two parts! I wish you success on your next exam. Have you sat for your CPA exam? I'm wondering how the CIA exam compares in difficulty to the CIA exam. I got that out of the way about three years ago.
I went ahead and bought the Wiley books since that was what I was familiar with and it worked for me. How much time did you take to prepare for each of the exams you passed?
Do you get the results right away since it is only multiple choice? With the CPA exam you had to wait about a couple of months depending on when in the window you took the exam.
Hi all Those of you who bought Gleim, did you buy the entire kit ( with audio, true and false lecture,etc...) ? I only bought the text book and was able to download the software in two different computers. I am wondering people who passed the exam might have bought the entire kit, not like me just a part of it. Any comments would be appreciated !
If you do not pass, you will get your numerical score. If you do pass, you are not given the numerical score. You get your result as you walk out of the testing center - no waiting.
I am already a CPA, having taken that test over 10 years ago. I found parts 1 and 2 much easier than the CPA exam. Part 3 has a lot of the same concepts as the CPA exam, but the IT part is what is taking more of my time.
I found the questions to be more along the line of those in the IIA CIA Learning System. I thought their materials were really good as well. The Gleim practice questions were much more detailed (and numerous) - and I think that helped put me over the top.
