Hi friends,
I wonder if any of you could give me some study tips for part 3, which hear is the hardest part.
I did my CPA about 8 years ago, as well as my MBA...done with parts 1 and 2 of the CIA ....but when I look at some of the topics on the syllabus for part 3 I just don't feel inspired to study..thinking of doing it my end of February...I (am supposed to) use Gleim material (all of it ... Online, books, software, audio but I'm just not inspired for this part, particularly cause of some of the comments I read... Actually, Gleim does have some study tips, which I only use after feeling at least 70 % ready for the exams...but part 3, no inspiration at all

Like you, I was uninspired to study. For that reason, I did not use my time effeciently. It took me much too long to prepare for this part.

Once I decided to get serious about it, I used mostly the IIA CIA Learning System. I supplemented it with the Gleim practice questions. Spend plenty of time on the questions - especially reviewing the logic behind those you miss.

You should do very well, since you have your CPA and MBA - you are no stranger to hard work. Best of luck to you!

Hi,
Basically, you're right, Part 3 is the least appealing of them all, since it is not about logic, as parts 1 and 2, but techniques you learned a while ago and probably forgotten. I used the CIA learning system, made short key rehearsal exerts for each of the the sections, and practiced the questions until I had 100% or nearly 100% score. You need to be able to produce the logic behind each MCQ. I also reviewed the flash cards. Then I did the exam and passed.
I must admit that the recommended 60 hours is not realistic if you also include the MCQ time. Wish you the best of luck. You can do it!

By the way... Is there a way we can see the actual marks of our exam scores if we pass? I understand, they show them if you fail..but I'd be interested to find out how I did, on Part III and IV, on Thursday and Friday last week. Thanks

By the way, thanks to both of you for your insights... I wrote a long response and realized that it hasn't been posted...so I won't bother trying to write it all again... But, bottom line is, I passed, Part III and Part IV last week, and I'm done with this exam. Now I can focus on providing my two cents on internal auditing, in a country where I am only the third CIA.

I just took Part 3 test 2 weeks ago. Personally I found that the IIA learning system (both book and online questions) and some questions in Gleim book (not the ones in its CD-ROM) are very helpful. If your time is sufficient, CIA model exam incl. 100 real past exam questions are useful as well. I bought exam matrix for more question practice, but the questions in it are really far from the studying points.

There`s some calculations in the exam, but not difficult at all. It`d be nothing to you since you`ve passed CPA exam.
