I am looking for some numbers in terms of the costs for having a quality assurance review performed for my IA function. If anyone has any experience or can point me toward some resources where this might be available I would be appreciative. I want to explore the costs surrounding the :
1) Full Assessment by Independent Party
2) Self Assesment with Independent validation.
I am just looking for approximate ranges at this point for each alternative. My IA team is 4 staff and one management.
Quality @ theiia .org is the obvious answer. They will provide a quote for their services (both full and SAIV). Over my 30 years in audit, I've seen full QAR reviews in the $40,000 range - for a two week visit by a 3 or 4 member team, with IT Audit coverage and best-practice comments. I've seen a SAIV for $7,500 - for a two day visit by 1 CIA with QAR experience, but without IT or best-practices. And then, there is the 3-way exchange of reviews that's the least costly option (none). Invest $75 or so in the QAR Manual - there's more information about the scope of a review and how to hold down costs. Generally, I'd suggest that you set a budget and then go shopping in your area (no travel expense) to see if a local chapter member has any experince or if CPA firms (especially regional) have a QAR practice.
