Information and Resources on becoming an IIA Quality Assessment Institute

Eligibility
In determining whether an institute is ready to be a Quality Institute, we consider the following:

  • Is the institute in good standing with IIA Global Headquarters?
  • Does the institute have adequate staffing level to establish and sustain a quality program?
  • Is the institute committed to advocate and grow quality in the institute's country?

Process of Becoming a Quality Institute
Interested institutes should complete an Institute Application Form (Word, 147KB). After receiving and reviewing the completed Form, IIA Global Headquarters Quality will determine the applicant's eligibility to become a Quality Institute. If approved, the institute will receive a copy of the Quality Assessment Agreement. After both the institute and IIA Global Headquarters sign the agreement, the institute formally becomes a Quality Institute.

After Signing the Agreement
The institute will receive a password for access to Quality Resource Center, which contains the following materials:

  • Templates, surveys, and working documents used by IIA Headquarters in Quality Assessments;
  • Summary of common observations and successful practices from the Quality Assessments conducted by IIA Global Headquarters and its institutes;
  • Results of the survey results from the Quality Assessment clients.

These resources are updated regularly to provide the Quality Institutes updated guidance.

"Train the Trainer" Program
After signing the Quality Assessment agreement, the institute can obtain up to two QA training courses at a negotiated rate from IIA Headquarters Quality. The following is a step-by-step guidance on the whole process:

  1. IIA Global Headquarters and the institute work together to establish a date for the first training session on the quality assessment methodology, provided by the IIA Global Headquarters Quality.
  2. The institute selects a minimum of three individuals from the first training session that have the potential to become trainers/team leaders.
  3. If applicable, IIA Global Headquarters and the institute work together to establish a date for the second training course on the quality assessment methodology.
  4. The individuals identified by the institute as having the potential to become trainers/team leaders should assist the IIA Global Headquarters trainer in conducting the second quality assessment training course, which will provide them with the necessary experience to provide the training courses in the future.
  5. If applicable, the institute identifies a company in their country that requires an external quality assessment. The rational is that the training course and the external quality assessment can be scheduled concurrently to minimize the expenses of the trainer/team leader sent from IIA Global Headquarters.
  6. IIA Global Headquarters will provide the team leader and all administrative support for conducting an external quality assessment at the company. The institute will have the individuals identified as potential trainers/team leaders participate on the quality assessment team to gain the necessary practical experience in the quality assessment methodology.
  7. IIA Global Headquarters and the institute can partner on additional quality assessments of organizations in the institute country until the institute is confident of their abilities to provide the services to their member organizations without the involvement of IIA Global Headquarters
  8. IIA Global Headquarters is available as a resource to assist in the ongoing implementation of the Quality Assessment program. IIA Global Headquarters also will monitor the institute as stated in The Quality Assessment Institute Agreement.
