Call for Papers for 2008 IT Audit Research Symposium
The IIA is inviting scholars, researchers, educators, and practitioners to submit papers for its third annual IT Audit Research Symposium to be held in conjunction with The IIA's 2008 International Conference on Sunday, July 6, in San Francisco. This event, which is co-sponsored by The Institute's Advanced Technology Committee (ATC) and The IIA Research Foundation, features presentations and discussions on emerging IT audit issues and current and upcoming research on key IT audit topics.
Proposed research papers must have a specific focus on internal auditing, discuss how the subject area is impacted by IT-related factors, and demonstrate how internal auditors best fulfill their role in today's changing technology environment. Potential topics for this year's symposium include, but are not limited to:
- Auditing the IT management process.
- Integration of IT and business functions.
- Technology and management trends that impact IT audit efforts.
- IT support of internal auditing through the use of tools and methodologies and their application.
- New business and control issues that affect IT audit's response.
- Managing IT audit projects.
- Compliance and its impact on IT auditing.
Those interested in presenting a paper at the 2008 symposium should submit a research abstract to Lily Bi, IIA director of technology practices, at lily.bi@theiia.org. Abstracts should be no more than five pages and include:
- The researcher's name, affiliation, contact address, phone number, and e-mail.
- The researcher's resume, which needs to be attached as an addendum to the abstract.
- A paragraph that states the research hypotheses being tested, if applicable, and the IT research topic being addressed.
- A paragraph stating the research methods, expected results, and the benefits of the research to the internal audit profession.
- A paragraph describing previous research, if any, and how this research adds to the previous work in the subject area.
- A paragraph stating the research's IT implications.
The deadline for submissions is March 7, and selected participants will be announced after April 30. Selected groups may apply for funding assistance for travel and conference expenses.
