Get Ready to Lead, Build, and Succeed

From first grade all the way to my final year of college, one of the most exciting times of the year for me was going back to school: seeing old friends, meeting new students and professors, and being in an environment where I would learn fresh, new ideas. The possibilities seemed endless at the start of a new school year. I am feeling that same excitement about the start of the 2012-2013 chapter year, which kicks off with the Leadership Academy: Mission Possible . 

Lead: 
As chapter leaders, you are The IIA’s direct contact to over 70,000 North American members. Your success at the chapter level is essential to the success of the organization. At this year’s Leadership Academy, over 300 leaders from over 150 chapters will be assembling to learn, network, and share ideas.

Build:   
The 2012 Leadership Academy is full of opportunities for you to build upon your skills and take back to your chapter:

• Mission Possible General Sessions on Better Communication (Don Levonius), the Internal Auditor Leader of the Future (Larry Harrington), Recruiting and Retaining the Generations (Cam Marston) and Unlocking the Code to a Happy Career (Bob Kodzis). 
• Updates on IIA initiatives (Richard Chambers and Kevin Mayeux) – essential information for you as a leader.
• Agent Assemblies (Regional Breakouts) to address topics important to you - led by your District Advisor and District Representative.
• Mission by Roles Breakouts by your specific chapter role so you can be prepared to lead your chapter.
• The Agent Intelligence Center, where you can learn about new products and services to make your life as a leader and as an internal auditor easier.

This is just the start: Along with Leadership Academy, there are District Workshops over the summer, WebEx by Role sessions throughout the year, and LeadersLink – your quarterly communication from IIA Global Headquarters. All built to help you succeed in your role.

Succeed:    
Everyone at IIA Global Headquarters is looking forward to meeting you and learning from you as well. Your feedback on a number of initiatives will be requested, and your input during breakouts will be captured and shared.

Your active participation during sessions and on Twitter at #IIALeadership12 throughout the conference will help to share key ideas with others, and you will be adding value to the entire assembly of leaders. During the year, continue sharing with fellow leaders via Twitter at #IIAChapters.
