Happy 2013!At this time of year, I like to take a moment to reflect on some of the milestones we had in 2012. A successful Leadership Academy Conference in April serving over 330 leaders in 138 North American chapters, 29 outstanding district workshops in the summer, chapter website conversions, the production of a new treasurer’s manual, the creation of two new IIA chapters: Brazos Valley and Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) and most importantly, furthering the personal connections with chapter leaders. Donna Wiley, Maunda Land, and I are honored to work with such a great group of people. We are truly excited about all the great things 2013 will bring. While January is a new calendar year for all of us, it also marks the halfway point for our chapter year. I would encourage you as chapter leaders to pause for a moment and consider all the value you have added to your chapter since June 1. Celebrate these accomplishments with your Board, and remind your members of all the activities and training that your chapter has provided in your next communication with them, or at your next meeting. Then spend some time looking forward. What else do you want to do? Review your chapter’s short and long range goals. Are you on track for success? Brainstorm with your officers about ways to reach your goals. Use the resources available to chapter leaders: the chapter leader web pages, your district representative or district advisor, and chapter relations staff. Looking ahead, we have a lot of things planned to assist our chapter leaders in 2013. I encourage you to take a moment to read each issue of LeadersLink — our communication tool for sharing information from IIA Headquarters with you that will help you make 2013 the best yet for your chapter. Happy New Year!
