Finish Strong

You were challenged to Finish Strong as your 2012-2013 chapter year came to a close, and you responded perfectly. The 2013 Leadership Academy was a tremendous success thanks to the incredible work of your District Representatives and District Advisors, who make up the Chapter Relations Committee (CRC).

These District Representatives and District Advisors gathered in the two days preceding Leadership Academy and worked through a multitude of strategic initiatives to help improve IIA chapters throughout North America.

Leadership Academy: Speed to Succeed
At the 2013 Leadership Academy, incoming CRC Chairman, Keri Rogers, CIA, CRMA, helped kick off the festivities through the introduction of IIA President and CEO Richard Chambers CIA, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA, who discussed Internal Audit 2013: Emerging Trends and the Outlook Ahead. Participants then dove into the basics of running chapter operations while others had in-depth conversations on chapter concerns.

Day 2 started with Chairman Paul Sobel, CIA, CRMA, introducing his Chairman’s theme for the coming year: Imagine the Possibilities.

Connie Podesta, professional speaker and life coach, helped participants discover their inner squiggle, circle, triangle or square and shared how to handle pesky shapes outside of your own. She amused attendees with humor and thought-provoking ideas to help in both personal and professional lives.

Later in the day, IIA Executive Vice President, Chief Officer for North American Operations and General Counsel, Kevin Mayeux, CRMA, made a strong case for leaders to “drive” their chapter’s success instead of simply commuting.

The last day of the event, Bob Kodzis, chief creative catalyst and master facilitator, invited all participants to “Do the Impossible” and taught all attendees that they truly need to think beyond their abilities and expertise, create  their own wind, and stay positive.
