IIA Committees
The primary function of IIA committees is to develop and implement programs to achieve the goals and objectives of The Institute and to provide advice and counsel to the headquarters staff. Terms are usually for three years, with one-third of the members' terms expiring each year.

Professional Services Committees

Academic Relations Committee

Mission: To forge relationships among academics, students, practitioners, administrators, and others for the primary purpose of promoting the role of internal auditing and internal auditing education within college/university curricula globally.

Composition: Fifteen to 20 individuals representing both academe and
practitioners.

Government Relations Committee

Mission: To promote the audit profession and advocate for the interests of government auditors worldwide.

Composition: Fifteen to 20 individuals representing a cross-section of local, state/provincial, and national governmental auditors.

International Relations Committee

Mission: To oversee institute relations including the formation, development and expansion of IIA institutes; to oversee, support and where necessary mentor institutes in order to better serve the needs of members; to promote the presence and expansion of The IIA and facilitate the development of global mindset to allow stronger integration among The IIA and its existing and potential institutes; and to provide assistance and guidance to institutes and feedback to The IIA on global matters to facilitate achievement of The IIA's mission and global strategy.

Composition: At least fifteen members from around the world to include a variety of representatives from geographic areas, associated organizations, institutes represented and not represented on the board, with consideration for the skills, experience and languages needed to carry out the work of the committee.
