Individual Memberships

The membership categories below are for individuals in the U.S., Canada, and Caribbean nations. All fees are listed in U.S. dollars.

*Please Note: New dues rates effective for new members who join The IIA as of 3/1/12, and existing members with expiration dates of 2/29/12 or later.

Regular Member - US & Caribbean US$205 (Effective 3-1-2012 US$215) / Canada US$225 ( US$235)  
Open to individuals involved in internal auditing, internal controls, risk assessment, information systems auditing, and related fields. Also those who have an interest in internal auditing, e.g., members of audit committees, external public accountants, controllers, CEOs, and suppliers of services.

Educational Member - US, Caribbean, & Canada US$110 (US$120)  Individuals principally employed as educators at colleges and universities. No application fee required for this specialty membership.

Student Member - US, Caribbean, & Canada US$60 (US$70)  Student members must be engaged in a full-time (12 credit hours per semester) undergraduate degree program at colleges or universities. Student membership is limited to a maximum of six years duration. Available to members in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. No application fee required.


Life Member - US, Caribbean, & Canada US$2,100  
Regular members who wish to show a long-term commitment to The Institute may pay to become a life member by remitting a one-time fee. This classification is automatically given to those members who have 40 years of membership in The IIA.

Retired Member - US, Caribbean, & Canada US$60 (US$70) Open to those who retire from active employment and who are members in good standing of The Institute at the time of their application for this classification of membership. Individuals can not join as new members under this classification.

Government Audit Program for Individuals - US, Caribbean, & Canada US$110  (US$120)Audit professionals employed by government agencies not participating in a Government Audit Program as a group are eligible to join The IIA as an individual. No application fee required.

  • An application fee of US $25 and appropriate dues for year of admittance must accompany an application.
  • If joining an institute in countries other than Canada, Caribbean or USA, consult the local institute section to determine membership types and corresponding fees.
  • New dues effective for new members as of 03/1/11, and existing members with expiration dates of 02/28/2011 or later.
 General Information for Individual Members   
  • Dues are payable in U.S. funds. 
  • Dues are billed yearly on the anniversary date of membership. 
  • Dues and application fees are subject to change at any time by the Board of Directors of The IIA. 
  • Annual membership dues include a US $40 fee for Internal Auditor, a US $5 fee for IIA Today, and a US $5 fee to other professional publications. These fees cannot be deducted from the dues.

Prospective Members Outside the United States, Canada, and Caribbean
The International classification is available to prospective members if The IIA does not currently have an institute in your area. Dues are US $205 (US$215 Canada International US$235)plus US $25 application fee. For drafts drawn on banks outside the United States and Canada, please add US $30 to your payment to cover bank collection charges.
