UPDATE - The IIA LaunchesĀ Its New Website

Greetings from The IIA,

Our new IIA Web site made its debut on Jan. 2. The new site, which offers more versatility and ease-of-use than our previous site, is experiencing record-breaking traffic, with up to three times more visitors than before.

This dramatic increase in traffic has challenged both our hardware and software resources, and subsequently has resulted in an increased number of "error" messages. We understand how frustrating such messages are to receive, and we regret any inconvenience you might be experiencing as a result. We are working diligently to enhance our site capabilities to remedy the situation, and are currently testing solutions.

Should you receive an error message, please try refreshing the Web page in your browser. In many cases, this should successfully reload the page. If you would like to contact us, please send an e-mail to online@theiia.org. Your feedback is valuable to us and we appreciate your time in communicating any concerns you may have.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition. We hope that very soon, you will be able to fully benefit from the many enhancements the new site will bring to your fingertips!

Sincerely,

Web Operations

Drop-Down Navigation

Drop-Down NavigationTo help members find exactly what they're looking for, a new navigation structure was developed on research from IIA member surveys, advice from Web usability experts, and guidance from the Web Site Advisory Board.

The most visible change is the inclusion of sections in primary navigation that users say are hard to find on the current site - the Career Center, Bookstore, Research Foundation, and Chapters & Insitiutes.

Breadcrumb NavigationThere is now drop-down navigation across the site, which will allow easy access to primary and secondary navigation from every page. Above the title of the page and below the navigation bar is breadcrumb navigation that indicates where the page resides and where the visitor is in the navigation of the site. This enables the visitor to simply click on the link to return to previous pages.

Enhanced Web Site Quick Search

Search ModuleThe new Web site employs a more intuitive quick search that produces accurate search results. Also, search words can be keyed in directly on any page of the Web site for easy access.

There is also a link to conduct an "Advanced Search" of the Web site allowing users to narrow their search parameters by specific phrases or sections of the Web site.

Additionally, there is a link to theĀ site map which provides a comprehensive and accurate list of nearly every page on the Web site. It updates automatically with changes from new Web pages or the movement of Web pages.

This new module is located on every Web page on the site.

Single-Click Member Login

Member Login ModuleAlso new to every Web page is the Member Login module. A single-click login allows for easier access to restricted content.

Not a member of The IIA? No problem. Simply click on "Join Now" and you can access additional information about the different options and opportunities for membership with The Institute.

Did you forget your password or member ID number? Just click on "Forgot?" and enter your member ID to have your password sent in an e-mail to the address contained in your member profile. To retrieve your member ID, specific contact information is available to speak with a staff member of The IIA Customer Service department.

After successfully logging into the Web site, the Log In module will provide members with the option to "Log Out" or to "Update Your Profile" with The IIA.

New Look and Feel

Homepage ImageThe new Web site was created with a dynamic and contemporary design that reflects The IIA's current branding. This look complements the printed pieces and other materials members and others receive in their mailboxes and at various IIA events.

We worked with a creative agency to develop a "wireframe" for the home page that gives us tremendous flexibility in the way we present news and information. The modular layout includes dedicated space for guidance-related announcements, training events, bookstore products as well as news from all departments across The Institute. Also on the home page is a special module that will rotate multiple screens of information and images as well as a module featuring links to the top five most-visited Web pages.

The new design is consistent with current design trends using a fixed-width layout that is compatible on all screen resolutions. The design is optimized for resolutions of 1024 by 768 and 800 by 600.

Additional Features

Also available on every Web page is a "Printer-Friendly Version" icon that enables the pages to be printed quickly. Simply click on the icon and a new window opens displaying the Web page's body copy in a convenient and easily formatted version for printing.

For our dedicated volunteers, a "Committees" (restricted access) link at the bottom right-hand footer of every page on the site enables The IIA committee members to access their committee information, including meeting agendas, rosters, and other documents.
