The IIA’s Global Internal Audit Survey – A Component of the CBOK Study

The IIA’s Global Internal Audit Survey is the most comprehensive global study of the profession conducted since the 2006 study. These ongoing surveys provide internal audit practitioners with the latest information on the status of the profession across the globe.
The survey, which was offered in a total of 22 languages, closed on May 21, 2010. More than 13,500 respondents comprised of IIA members and non-members alike from over 95 countries completed the survey. By offering their time, knowledge and insights, survey respondents have delivered a valuable contribution to the internal audit profession!*

The survey results will be published in different formats:
- Five quick read reports focusing on the global results which will be published by The IIA Research Foundation (IIARF).
- Local IIA institutes and/or associated organizations may provide information based on the survey results more specifically geared to their regions.
- Watch for "fast facts" during the coming months based on the survey results, on The IIARF's web site.
The IIARF reports will be published (in English) in different phases and will be available online (at no cost to members) or in print through The IIARF Bookstore. The first two reports will be published before the end of this year.
IIARF Reports - Description
- Characteristics of an Internal Audit Activity examines the demographics and other attributes of the worldwide population of internal auditors and what this means for the internal audit profession.
- Core Competencies for Today’s Internal Auditor identifies the attributes of an effective internal audit activity and what internal auditors really need to know to perform their jobs with due care while adding value to their respective organizations.
- Measuring Internal Auditing’s Value focuses on the value of internal auditing under dynamic business conditions by presenting the key elements, criteria, and drivers of the value delivered by an internal audit activity and what needs to be done to maintain the profession’s continuing relevance.
- What’s Next for Internal Auditing? provides forward-looking insight identifying perceived changes in the roles ofthe internal audit activity over the next five years, changing stakeholder expectations, and what internal auditing must do to adapt itself in a resilient fashion.
- Imperatives for Change: The IIA’s Global Internal Audit Survey in Action contains conclusions, observations, and recommendations for the internal audit activity to anticipate and match organizations’ fast-changing needs to strategically position the profession for the long term.
