William G. Bishop III, CIA, Memorial Fund

His Passion. Our Pledge. Your Future.

The William G. Bishop III, CIA, Memorial Fund — the sole financial support for the CBOK study — was created to continue the legacy of a man who committed himself fully to the profession that defined him. William G. Bishop III, CIA, affectionately known as Bill to his friends and family, served as IIA president from1992 until his untimely passing in March of 2004. Bill often professed, without reservation, “I’m proud to be an internal auditor.” He understood the value intern  lauditing brought to an organization and he was committed to helping practitioners bring their best to the table to ensure internal auditing could secure its rightful place at the table.

To honor the work he dedicated his life to, The IIA Research Foundation pledged to propel his vision forward by supporting research to advance the profession through the fund created in his name. It is a commitment that is echoed throughout each report within the study. The knowledge gained and the insights shared through the study strengthen the profession of internal auditing around the globe. This solid base of knowledge allows internal auditors to have a more meaningful impact on the organizations they serve and a more rewarding experience performing the work they love.

The commitment The IIA Research Foundation has made to carrying on Bill Bishop’s legacy can only be honored through the continued support of internal auditors who share Bill Bishop’s passion for the profession... practitioners like you. When you make an individual contribution or encourage your chapter, institute or organization, you are making a clear statement. You are saying you care about the future of the profession of internal auditing. You are saying you care about your future.
