EHS auditors were asked about the management and scope of EHS audit programs including duties, staffing — both internal staff and hired consultants — as well as number of facilities and certifications.
Responses came primarily from publicly traded manufacturing organizations with more than 1,500 employees (Exhibit 1). A total of 17 participants with EHS audit programs completed the survey. Although the response rate is too low to be considered statistically representative of the larger population, the results still offer useful perspectives for consideration about EHS audit management and scope.
