IIA Bulletin: SEC Proposes new Climate Disclosure Rules

Communications Robert Perez Mar 22, 2022

Publicly traded companies on U.S. exchanges could soon be required to report robust and complex climate-related data for investor consideration. The proposed Rules from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission could have profound impacts on:

  • How organizations view climate-related risk.
  • The level and sophistication of internal controls put in place to accurately capture, measure, analyze and report related data in both financial and nonfinancial terms.
  • Internal audit's role in providing assurance on climate-related risk reporting.
