LAKE MARY, Fla. (March 29, 2023) — The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) – the internal audit profession's leader in standards, certifications, education, research, and technical guidance worldwide – is hosting a free webinar on Tuesday, April 4 from 12:00-2:00 PM ET about the banking crisis that followed the collapses of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, and other global banking challenges.
During the webinar, a panel of banking experts will discuss the risks and root causes associated with the collapse of these banks and share key lessons that internal auditors can learn from the differing situations to help mitigate these risks in the future.
The panel will discuss the types of risk — such as market risk, concentration risks, and enterprise risks — and discuss how each bank’s lack of proper risk management contributed to their respective collapses.
Attendees will also learn about best practices for internal auditors who work with larger financial institutions, including the key role the internal audit function plays in ensuring that stress testing is done correctly and the benefits of stress testing for smaller and mid-size organizations.
