Auditing and Advising on Crisis Management

Explore how internal audit can add value to an organization’s crisis risk management process via audit and/or advisory engagements. Crisis management focuses on the organization’s ability to immediately respond and handle a crisis to minimize human and property damage, cost, reputation impact, and ability to operate.

In this session, participating IA leaders will:

  • Discuss options between providing audit or advisory services relating to crisis management and the advantages and disadvantages of the two different forms of service.
  • Understand how internal audit can gain acceptance from stakeholders for internal audit to provide assurance, advice, insight and foresight relating to crisis management.
  • Share strategies for leveraging the work of 2nd line functions crisis management assessments including tabletop exercises in response to a hypothetical crisis situation.
  • Leverage lessons learned from crisis management tabletop exercises, including unannounced exercises, and from real life crisis events.
