Perla Habchi

IIA Ottawa Chapter Chair of Advocacy, Internal Audit Project leader - Government of Canada

Perla is the Chair of Advocacy of the IIA Ottawa Chapter, Internal Audit Project Leader at the Canadian Federal Government, and 2024 IIA Emerging Leader. With a passion for the world of innovation and finding ways to add value, she recognizes the significant contributions that internal audits can make in enhancing value and refining innovative processes within an organizational framework. She also recognizes the importance of building the next generation of auditors and contributes to this initiative through her role as chair of advocacy and through various volunteering roles. She developed the Innovation System Internal Controls Framework featured in the 2023 August Issue of the Internal Auditor Magazine. The framework aims to provide internal auditors with a tool for auditing innovation programs and initiatives in the public sector. She is also a recipient of the 2023 Internal Audit Vision Award, awarded annually by the Office of the Comptroller General at the Treasury Board Secretariat of the Government of Canada.


Laura De Luca, MBA, CPA, CIA, CISA

President, Bizmente and Professor - Accounting

Laura De Luca is an enthusiastic educator and accountant with over 23 years of extensive experience in the field, including more than 17 years specifically dedicated to internal auditing. Known for their expertise in financial leadership and internal auditing, Laura's experience has included public and private sector organizations, and she has managed domestic and global teams. She has a sharp focus on IT governance, holding the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation.
Throughout her career, Laura's tackled complex audit processes, ensuring strong financial and operational controls. She is known for their collaborative and productive approach, fostering teamwork and driving positive results in every project they undertake.
As an enthusiastic facilitator, Laura has inspired thousands of future professionals through teaching roles with the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and several post-secondary institutions.
Outside of her professional life, Laura enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and cherishing moments with family. She also volunteers with the local CPA and IIA chapters.


Megan Altizer

Associate Manager, Pipeline Initiatives

Megan Altizer is the Associate Manager of Pipeline Initiatives at The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). She joined the Member Value team in January 2025, focusing on initiatives that support students pursuing careers in internal auditing. In this role, Megan executes projects that foster membership engagement and career pathways while building strong relationships with internal partners, volunteers, and community organizations to strengthen the student and young professional pipeline.
