The West Michigan chapter serves members from a diverse economic base with significant concentrations in manufacturing, professional services, and retail. Spread across a wide region of America’s “third coast” our members seek to add value to their organizations without sacrificing the beauty of nature’s four seasons. Although West Michigan is home to many large companies, the majority are privately held. The West Michigan chapter works hard to meet the professional needs of our members. Chapter Officers

I hope you all had the chance to enjoy the beauty of West Michigan this summer—and perhaps even the “bonus” summer weather we’ve been experiencing!  My name is Kara Turkstra, and I am honored to continue serving as President of the West Michigan IIA Chapter for another year.  I have been a member of the IIA since 2014, when I joined as an intern, and over the years I’ve greatly enjoyed connecting with professionals across our region and continuing to grow in this rewarding profession.

Our chapter has an exciting year ahead! Based on feedback from our annual survey, we are planning a strong lineup of events, including traditional CPE opportunities in areas such as ethics and AI, as well as the return of networking events like happy hours.  Your engagement is what makes our chapter thrive, and we are committed to creating opportunities that provide both professional development and meaningful connections.

Whether you’re looking to expand your knowledge, strengthen your network, or simply meet new colleagues, there will be something for everyone this year.  I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and to making this another memorable year together!
