Tshepo Mofokeng

Tshepo Mofokeng is the 2025-26 Director, Global Services on the Global Board of Directors of The IIA. He was previously the Chair of the Board of Directors with IIA South Africa (2021-2024).

Tshepo is the Chief Audit Executive at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in South Africa. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and has since held director roles in addition to the Chief Audit Executive Role at the Department of Mineral and Energy. He later joined South Africa-based SekelaXabiso, where he served as a partner for internal audit, governance, and risk, as well as director and Chief Risk Officer.

Tshepo is a seasoned risk and audit executive, widely recognized for his ability to transform underperforming internal audit functions with more than 24 years of experience. He brings deep expertise across auditing, risk management, financial management, financial reporting, and corporate governance. Throughout his career, Tshepo has successfully led and managed audits across a broad spectrum of organizations – private companies, NGOs, government departments, state-owned entities, and municipalities.

Tshepo is currently the Chair of the audit committee of the Department of Employment and Labour. Prior to this role, he served as Chair for the National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute and the Leadership Academy for Guardians of Governance and held roles on other audit committees.

Tshepo holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), holds the Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), and is a Chartered Accountant (CA).
