Focusing Your Audits on Empowering Accountability

Format: Online

Organizations often struggle to substantively enhance their operational performance and people’s engagement. This is because they do not substantively consider how well their operating environment empowers accountability. When accountability is not empowered, the operating environment is not enabled to achieve its objectives. Instead, its people must find a way to do this, building workarounds and auxiliary processes that result in an ineffective way of working. To address this, organizations need to rethink how they structure their operating environment to empower accountability. As internal auditors, you can help your organization on this journey by highlighting areas where accountability is not empowered and providing advice on how to do so.
