Whether it’s authoring an article, serving as a conference session presenter, or contributing to the development of guidance or curriculum, The IIA is always seeking internal audit subject matter experts and advocates for fresh perspectives, expertise, and leadership.
Plus, some key roles that entail writing and presenting offer Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

The IIA frequently seeks volunteers for specific projects; these specific needs will be displayed in the application process.
However, you may complete the application at any time to be added to the volunteer list for projects arising throughout the year.
When you are ready to submit your information, navigate to the application site, create a login (if you have not previously done so), and complete the application.

Support the Curriculum Development team and/or Internal Audit Foundation with activities, including writing audit-specific content pieces, writing real-world audit scenarios or case studies, helping to develop or vet assessment questions, and/or being interviewed on camera for video clips.

Write or review exam questions or practice questions for the Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) exam. Training provided. No experience necessary. Earn CPE for accepted questions. Must hold an active CIA.

Magazine contributors provide expertise and contribute to the development of articles on specific topics, leading practices, or use cases. Magazine authors write articles or blogs.

As a Facilitator, practitioners instruct on behalf of The IIA. The goal of the program is to use experienced internal audit practitioners to deliver content based on IIA professional standards and guidance, and to incorporate the instructor’s experiences as applicable examples for the participants of the training course.

Review completed curriculum materials to ensure it meets the stated learning objectives, the prerequisites are appropriate, and the materials are free from fatal errors. This role also provides feedback that can be incorporated into revision cycles of the materials.

Experienced thought leaders and industry professionals can share their knowledge and expertise as we work together through in-person conferences and virtual conferences and webinars to explore emerging issues, promulgate leading practices, and advocate for the profession. Translate text or audio for guidance, publications, exams, training courses, and many more options. Translators must be fluent in both English and another language.

Participate in an interview either on video or behind the microphone for an All Things Internal Audit podcast or write a “Getting Started With” episode.

The annual Emerging Leader Mentoring program connects emerging internal audit professionals with experienced mentors around the world for career guidance, leadership development, and confidence building—empowering both mentees and mentors to grow, give back, and shape the future of the profession.
Program runs mid-November – May 31 annually
