Advanced Topics in Sustainability for Internal Auditors: Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Format: On-demand

Gases that trap heat in the atmosphere are called greenhouse gases (GHG). They are emitted by various sources and activities relevant to business, government, and personal life.
Governments globally are enacting legislation requiring businesses to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions at a level that is starting to parallel that required by financial disclosure laws.
These regulations require that company GHG inventories undergo the assurance process with a third-party auditor. Because of the attention and level of scrutiny that GHG emissions inventories are experiencing, some companies turn to their internal audit departments to ensure appropriate risks are identified and effective controls are implemented for these emissions.
In this course, you will be introduced to GHG, their effects on the atmosphere, where they come from, and how they are accounted for so that you can effectively contribute to your organization’s GHG accounting efforts.
