IIA PAC provides an opportunity for The IIA to effectively participate in the political process by pooling financial contributions from its membership and supporting members of congress who are committed to advancing policies that are important to the internal audit profession.

The PAC is bipartisan. We support federal candidates who are allies and champions of the internal audit profession, regardless of party affiliation.

Political action committees (PACs) are legal entities recognized under U.S. federal law which are organized to represent business, profession, and/or ideological interests. PACs are permitted to contribute money to candidates who advance and defend those interests. They are regulated and overseen by the U.S. Federal Election Commission and subject to various reporting, legal, and other compliance requirements.
IIA PAC operates as an affiliated legal entity but is separate from the Institute of Internal Auditors.

You may solicit contributions from other IIA members, however there are a number of legal disclaimers that you must provide, so we encourage you to direct those potential contributors to this webpage.
The PAC may also accept unsolicited contributions from any permissible source (i.e., no corporations, foreign nationals, or federal contractors), but such contributions must clearly be unsolicited. Telling someone that he or she may make an unsolicited contribution is considered a solicitation. -
Public employees may contribute to IIA PAC.
However, federal contractors are not permitted to contribute to the PAC. This includes anyone who is bidding on a federal contract, with any agency or department of the United States government and is paid, or is to be paid, for services, materials, equipment, supplies, land or buildings with funds appropriated by Congress.

If for tax purposes an LLC is considered a corporation, contributions to a federal PAC are prohibited. However, if an LLC is taxed as a partnership it may contribute up to $5,000 per year. Please note that a contribution by an LLC taxed as a partnership must be attributed to an individual partner or partners, and counts against the contributor's individual $5,000 contribution limit.

Contribution Rules
- Contributions to Institute of Internal Auditors Political Action Committee (“IIA PAC”) are not tax deductible.
- Contributions to IIA PAC will be used for political purposes and are entirely voluntary. You are free to choose whether and how much to contribute, and IIA will not favor or disadvantage anyone by reason of the amount of your contribution or your decision not to contribute.
- The recommended contribution amounts shown are merely a suggestion; you are free to contribute more (up to $5,000 per year), less, or nothing at all without reprisal.
- Individuals may contribute up to $5,000 per calendar year to IIA PAC. Contributions must be made from personal funds and may not be reimbursed by any other person, including any corporation, and may not be made using a business credit card. IIA PAC may not accept contributions from corporations, national banks, labor organizations, federal government contractors, or foreign nationals who are not lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States.
- Federal law requires IIA PAC to use its best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate more than $200 in a calendar year.
