IIA Licensing
The IIA makes a license freely available to members and the internal audit community for use within their organization. As a not-for-profit global professional association, The IIA fully reinvests revenue to support and advance the internal audit profession worldwide, including global standards-setting activities, advocacy, thought leadership, industry research, and the recruitment and development of future internal auditors. Protecting The IIA’s intellectual property is essential to maintaining its integrity and value, enabling the continued delivery of high-quality resources to the global internal audit community.

Commercial use requires a license
All commercial use of The IIA’s content and trademarks requires a license and may be subject to an annual license based upon the type of use and your geography.

License to use IIA Content within academic programs that are part of the Internal Audit Academic Alliance or other degree-granting programs.

Licensing frequently asked questions

The program provides a license to The IIA's standards content and logos.
Certain programs such as the Training Provider Licensing program include additional content that is specific to the program.
The license covers existing uses and future developments.

Under international copyright law limits, the owner has the exclusive right to control how their original works are used and transformed.
Only the copyright owner has the legal authority to create derivative works — adaptations, translations, or modifications of the original — and if you are using the content, you need a license or face potential legal liability.

Any organization using The IIA's content for commercial use, i.e., making money from the content, should have a license.
This includes training organizations, software providers, consultants, and universities.

In your commercial use, the content may be:
- Included in derivative works such as training materials
- Incorporated into programs or works to emphasize standards
- Posted internally for internal use of employees and agents

- Licensed content may not be reproduced in its entirety.
- The content may not be included in a publicly available AI system.
- Any use requires attribution.
- Use of content cannot imply endorsement by The IIA of your products or services.

You may not sublicense The IIA's content.
You may license derivative works you create that include IIA content.

The license may be renewed up to three (3) terms.
You will be notified ninety (90) days in advance of renewal date of any change to terms or fees.

License will state geographical restriction, if any.
Licensing terms & scope

You may access the content from The IIA's website as normal.
If you wish to access the files from one place, or to access additional file formats, you may do so via the Partner Relationship Management (PRM) system.

The PRM supports all major internet browsers.

As available, content is in PDF format and native file formats (e.g., Excel).

Content is added to the PRM as issued by The IIA, whether newly created or updated.

You may use the logo in conjunction with your products and services: on materials, marketing materials, websites, etc.

No, you may not alter the logo.
The logo is provided in color, white, and black.

Usage guidelines are available via the PRM with the logos.

Yes, we encourage you to do so.
Remember, the logo indicates that the organization has licensed IIA content for creation of its own materials, marketing, etc.
The logo is not an endorsement of products or services.

The registry of licensees is available to the public at Training Provider Licensing Program Members.

Your organization should be added to the registry when the license is signed and you submit the necessary information for the registry and your logo (if desired).

For most programs, the cost is a flat rate annually based upon the size of the organization.
The Training Provider Licensing Program is based upon a revenue share for larger organizations.
All programs include a discount for IIA membership.
