The IIA Mourns the Passing of Former Global Board Chair, Orville Walter Mills, Jr. 

On July 14, The IIA and the global internal audit profession lost one of our champions and volunteer leaders with the passing of Orville Walter Mills, Jr.

In addition to being an active local volunteer in Houston, Orville served as The IIA’s Global Board Chair for 1991–92. During that time, he guided our profession with a focus on “Harmonizing Diversity,” his Chairman’s theme. His work, his example, and his platform remain important and relevant today. Orville was a CIA, a CPA, and a dedicated leader and volunteer, within both internal audit and his community.

On behalf of The IIA, we extend our deepest condolences to Orville’s family and encourage the members of the global internal audit profession to pause in honor of Orville’s memory and his many contributions.
