Data analysis is the process of inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modeling data to uncover useful information, draw conclusions, and support decision-making.

This course is presented in three units. The primary focus of the first unit is to provide a foundational overview of data analysis. Topics include understanding and differentiating data analytics from other audit evidence collection and testing techniques, articulating the benefits and challenges of using data analytics, and identifying examples of analytical testing within common business process areas.

The next two units focus on defining populations for data analytics, audit sampling, computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATs), data mining, and other internal audit activities.
