Welcome to the IIA Azerbaijan Chapter

​IIA-Azerbaijan is an affiliate of The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA). The IIA is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.

IIA Azerbaijan Mission The main objective of IIA Azerbaijan is to provide dynamic leadership for the profession of internal auditing in Azerbaijan. Activities in support of this mission will include, but will not be limited to:

To support internal auditors practicing on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as nearby areas.

To improve the professionalism of internal auditors by developing their knowledge, skills and practices.

To become a unified platform for internal auditors by enabling their communication with each other.

Chapter Officers

Welcome to the IIA Azerbaijan Chapter, an international professional community affiliated with The Institute of Internal Auditors.

It is a great honor to serve as Chapter President for the 2025 to 2028 term. I accept this responsibility with deep appreciation for the achievements of previous leadership and with a strong commitment to advancing our profession in an era of rapid change, digital transformation, and evolving governance expectations.

Since the adoption of internal audit legislation in 2007 in Azerbaijan, our governance and professional landscape have strengthened significantly. This legislative milestone laid the foundation for modern internal audit functions and professional standards. Over nearly two decades of development, the profession has evolved toward greater strategic impact, focusing not only on compliance but also on value creation, risk foresight, and data driven assurance. Principles reflected in modern frameworks such as Internal Audit Vision 2035 emphasize innovation, continuous learning, and technological advancement, all of which will shape our Chapter’s initiatives in the coming years.

Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its economic and institutional landscape. In this dynamic environment, internal audit plays a vital role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and value creation across both public and private sectors. Our Chapter will actively support these national priorities by promoting modern governance principles, effective risk management, and professional excellence.

During the 2025 to 2028 term, our strategic focus, guided by both global standards and long term professional vision, will emphasize

• Strengthening the Chapter’s operational capabilities and innovation driven development in line with emerging digital and risk-based audit methodologies
• Expanding professional education opportunities and pathways to global professional standards, reflecting the principles of Internal Audit Vision 2035
• Supporting technological advancement and digital transformation within the internal audit profession
• Enhancing advocacy for strong governance and risk management practices
• Promoting ethics, quality, and continuous professional growth across our membership base

We will continue to provide platforms for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and dissemination of global best practices. Special attention will be given to supporting young professionals, fostering collaboration with universities and industry partners, and expanding opportunities for career development in the internal audit field.

As part of the global network of the Institute of Internal Auditors, our members benefit from international standards and professional resources that help strengthen governance and organizational performance. Together, we will elevate the impact of internal audit and ensure our profession remains adaptive, innovative, and trusted, contributing meaningfully to the sustainable development of Azerbaijan’s institutions and economy.
