Welcome to the IIA Phoenix Chapter

The Phoenix Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) was established in October 1964. We serve the Phoenix-metro area, and Northern Arizona. The chapter has over 700 current members. Monthly chapter events offer members and non-members the opportunity to network, learn about relevant audit topics, and earn CPE!

IIA Phoenix Chapter Scholarship Announcement

Are you passionate about advancing your career in the field of internal auditing? The IIA Phoenix Chapter is excited to announce the availability of two scholarships, designed to support your professional growth.

Membership Scholarship:

The Membership Scholarship is intended to assist students or professionals in covering their IIA membership fees or IIA Phoenix event fees. Up to two individuals can receive this scholarship, with an award of up to $280 each. This award can be utilized to cover costs associated with IIA membership or attendance of IIA Phoenix events. To be eligible, applicants must certify that these fees are not reimbursable by their employer. Scholarship recipients will also be encouraged to volunteer at one IIA Phoenix Event.

Certification Scholarship:

Are you currently an IIA Phoenix member working towards obtaining a CIA, CRMA, or IAP certification? The Certification Scholarship is specifically aimed at supporting your certification journey. With a total fund of $885, up to three individuals will have the opportunity to receive financial assistance. The scholarship can be used to cover exam fees, or purchase study materials. Scholarship recipients will also be encouraged to volunteer at one IIA Phoenix Event.

• IIA Global Account Number (if current IIA Phoenix Member)

2026–2027 Chapter Year

Dear Members,

I hope this message finds you well! As we begin another exciting year with the IIA Phoenix Chapter, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your continued support and involvement. We have much to look forward to this year as we focus on providing meaningful professional development opportunities, strengthening connections within our internal audit community, and positioning our Chapter for continued success.

This year, we are taking a more focused approach to our educational programming by offering fewer, but longer and more comprehensive Continuing Professional Education (CPE) events. Our goal is to provide high-quality learning experiences that allow for deeper discussions, practical insights, and greater value for our members. We are also placing an increased emphasis on engaging Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) and senior audit leaders through events that encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and discussions about the evolving challenges and opportunities facing our profession.

Beyond professional development, we recognize that one of the greatest benefits of Chapter membership is the opportunity to connect with others. We look forward to providing additional networking opportunities where members can build relationships, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. We are also excited to expand opportunities for members to get involved through volunteering. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your involvement makes a meaningful difference and helps strengthen our Chapter and the profession.

We are also placing greater emphasis on promoting awareness of the internal audit profession and inspiring the next generation of auditors. Through stronger partnerships with local universities, we hope to introduce more students to the many rewarding career opportunities within internal auditing, connect them with experienced professionals, and help build a strong pipeline of future talent. By engaging students early and supporting their professional development, we can help strengthen the future of our profession while creating meaningful connections between academia and the business community.

Another significant development this year is our transition from the traditional Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) to a more strategic and forward-looking approach. The IIA Phoenix Chapter has developed a formal 2026–2027 Strategic Plan, designed to support our long-term sustainability, growth, and continued value to our members. Our plan focuses on seven key areas: Programming, Advocacy, Academics, Certifications, Promotion of the Profession, Membership, and Volunteer Engagement. Together, these priorities will guide our efforts to enhance professional development, strengthen leadership and university partnerships, promote awareness of internal auditing, attract future talent, and create lasting value for our members and the broader profession.

Additionally, IIA Global Headquarters is working to develop a new Chapter model that will help shape the future of how Chapters operate and support their members. We look forward to sharing more information as IIA Global Headquarters provide updates on the new Chapter model. 

As always, none of our accomplishments would be possible without the dedication of our incredible volunteers, Board members, and Chapter leaders. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who generously contributes their time, expertise, and energy to making our Chapter successful. Your commitment is truly appreciated!

I am excited about the opportunities ahead and encourage each of you to take advantage of our upcoming events, connect with fellow professionals, and consider becoming more involved in the Chapter. Together, we can continue building a strong, vibrant internal audit community that supports one another and advances our profession.
