Welcome to the IIA Los Angeles Chapter

In September 1943, a group of 25 internal auditors from the Los Angeles area signed the charter which established the Los Angeles Chapter as a non-profit organization. The group wanted to establish an organization that would live up to the IIA's belief in "Progress Though Sharing." They felt this purpose could be accomplished by offering members affordable education seminars, professional meetings and a place to connect and interact with other colleagues. Today, these elements are still at the heart of Los Angeles Chapter’s strategic goals.

The Los Angeles Chapter is the 4^th oldest chapter (Chapter #004) in existence and is one of eight IIA chapters that make up IIA West District #3. The Los Angeles Chapter has more than 700 members and continues to be an integral resource for Greater Los Angeles internal audit community. Members are composed primarily of the following industries: government, banking, financial services, healthcare, education, entertainment, and consulting and professional services.

The Los Angeles Chapter serves its members by advocating on behalf of the internal audit profession, providing an annual 2.5-day conference offering up to 20 CPEs, as well as monthly CPE education and training events typically held on the second Wednesday of every month. We also host Quarterly CAE Roundtables for the local Los Angeles Chief Audit Executives.

Building Awareness Champions

We are pleased to be a 2024 Building Awareness Champion!

During Internal Audit Awareness Month in May, we shared our passion for internal auditing, promoting the profession through a variety of events and campaigns designed to inform and engage, raise awareness, and help stakeholders understand the value of internal audit in their organizations.

Fall is here and our 2026/2027 chapter year is in full swing. I'm excited about what's ahead for IIA Los Angeles. Our programming this year reflects what our profession is facing now: the practical use of artificial intelligence, the importance of ethics, and the leadership skills internal auditors need to be trusted advisors.

This year's schedule includes:

Joint Ethics Program (October 1, virtual): Held in partnership with our neighboring Inland Empire and Orange County chapters, reaffirming ethics as the foundation of our profession.
Fall Program hosted by RSM (October 26): An in-person session at RSM's downtown Los Angeles office. Space is limited, so we encourage early registration.
Holiday Event (December): Our annual in-person celebration with ISACA Los Angeles, bringing together the audit, technology, and risk communities to network and close out the year.
Leadership Conference (Spring 2027): A conference focused on developing the leaders who will shape the future of internal audit.

Across these events, you'll find sessions on the practical application of AI in auditing, ethics in a changing risk landscape, and leadership development at every stage of your career.

I also want to thank our university partners. Their collaboration has increased student membership and engagement across Los Angeles and is helping build the next generation of internal audit professionals. It is one of the most meaningful parts of our chapter's work, and we look forward to growing it together.
