State of the Profession: Building Trust in the Age of AI Acceleration
Join IIA President and CEO Anthony Pugliese and 2026-27 IIA North American Board Chair David Helberg as they present “State of the Profession: Building Trust in the Age of AI Acceleration.”
In this data-driven session, Anthony and David will unpack key findings from the latest IIA and Internal Audit Foundation research, with a focus on AI’s effect on governance and trust. Attendees will learn how The IIA’s practical frameworks and tools help internal audit professionals assess these risks and design governance that keeps pace with innovation.

The Western Carolinas Chapter of the IIA (WCIIA) has members of various experiences and represents audit in multiple industries, such as banking, construction, education, insurance, financial services, manufacturing, medical, and retail. WCIIA offers local training, education, and networking opportunities through our meetings and events.

The 2026 IIA Advocacy Key recognizes U.S. chapters that have strengthened the internal audit profession through direct grassroots advocacy. This badge honors the chapter’s critical support of IIA Advocacy in advancing robust and coordinated engagement with key U.S. policymakers.

The mission of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is to provide dynamic leadership for the global profession of internal auditing. Activities in support of this mission will include, but will not be limited to:- Advocating and promoting the value internal audit professionals add to their organizations.
- Providing comprehensive professional educational and development opportunities, standards and other professional practice guidance, and certification programs.
- Researching, disseminating, and promoting knowledge concerning internal auditing and its appropriate role in control, risk management, and governance to practitioners and stakeholders.
- Educating practitioners and other relevant audiences on best practices in internal auditing.
- Bringing together internal auditors from all countries to share information and experiences.
