Best Practices for Audit Team Competency Development

Format: Online

Today’s fast-paced world of emerging risks, disruptions, organizational changes and increased use of technology is elevating the need for internal audit functions to revolutionize talent development. Competency beyond audit skills is becoming more critical as the world we work in rapidly evolves. The days of traditional internal auditors performing rearview mirror compliance audits are behind us. Today internal auditors must know how to leverage, as well as audit, technology; quickly grasp emerging risks; understand how organizations operate, create value, manage risks and compete (business acumen); and deliver advice, insight and foresight on governance practices, risk management and control processes. This roundtable is designed for internal audit directors and managers responsible for guiding the development of audit team members to effectively provide assurance and advisory services in today’s world as well as prepare them for the future.

Participants will explore practical approaches to developing, implementing and managing competency development programs that advance the competency of current internal audit team members, college recruits, and non-audit experienced team members. This session will address how internal audit functions can leverage the IIA’s Competency Framework, certification, internal and external training, interns, rotational programs, special assignments and other development tools.

Through interactive discussion and breakout sessions, attendees will share real-world experiences on how they develop current internal audit team members, new college hires and transfers into internal audit from functional/business areas.

This Executive event is an exclusive benefit only available to Audit Leaders Network Members. Audit Leaders Network provides access to essential relationships, professional development, and tailored resources for today’s leaders.
