Well-defined methodologies are essential to delivering consistent, efficient, and high-quality internal audit work. This roundtable is designed for internal audit directors and managers who are responsible for building, maintaining, and overseeing internal audit methodologies in alignment with the Standards.  

Participants will engage in a practical, peer-driven discussion on how to develop, implement, and evolve internal audit methodologies—for audit planning and execution to reporting, follow-up, and quality assurance.

  • Apply practical approaches to standardizing, streamlining and automating engagement processes to improve efficiency, consistency, quality and conformance across engagement
  • Evaluate different methodology approaches (eg policies, procedures, manuals, checklists, templates, matrices, frameworks, questionnaires, surveys and technology) based on team size, maturity, and operational needs
  • Strengthen adoption of methodologies across audit staff, including effective training and reinforcement strategies to ensure consistent execution
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline existing methodologies based on peer insights, improving efficiency, consistency, quality, and overall audit delivery
