Welcome to August and I hope each of you have been able to enjoy the summer, while finding some respite from the heat. Although July is typically a slower month for the Chapter, we have been planning a combination of exciting in-person and virtual events in the upcoming months and will share additional details as we lock in the dates. I look forward to seeing you all soon!
In July, we had a very interactive CAE Roundtable event where we discussed hot topics such as how Internal Audit can support sustainability and ESG reporting efforts, different types of fraud and best practices to counter and respond to threats with additional focus on cybersecurity. We are always looking for CAEs to host these events so please let us know if you would like to host our next quarterly Roundtable.
We also have our upcoming, virtual SOX Roundtable on August 5 to discuss how companies manage SOX compliance while increasing efficiency and effectiveness. This event will be hosted by Lynne Renshaw, HP’s Internal Audit Senior Director, and Mike McManus, Internal Audit Director for Plains All American Pipeline and all spots filled up quickly, highlighting the interest in sharing good practices and challenges.
The Houston ACFE is also hosting its 2022 Fraud Conference in October, with both virtual and in-person options. There will also be a joint ACFE / IIA Happy Hour on October 20 from 4:45 – 6:30 pm at the Norris Conference Center in CityCenter. See the Upcoming Events and Webinars page in the newsletter for additional information.
To all new members, welcome and thank you for joining the Houston IIA Chapter. Also, consider volunteering – we have many volunteer opportunities to choose from.
Don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook to see the latest Chapter news and stay connected to your fellow members.
Thank you all for continuing to support the Houston IIA Chapter.
