About Us

The Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia (IIA Zambia) was registered in Zambia under the Societies Act in 1998. IIA Zambia is an affiliate of The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA). The Institute has over 300 members in both the public and private sectors, with potential to grow exponentially over the next five years.

Established in 1941, The IIA is the global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, principal educator, and standard-setter for the internal auditing profession worldwide with more than 200,000+ members in more than 170 countries and territories.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide dynamic leadership for the country’s profession of internal auditing. Objectives in support of this mission include providing exceptional service to IIA members and not limited to:

  • Being recognized as the global voice for the internal audit profession.
  • Developing and sustaining the internal audit profession at the local, regional, and international levels.
  • Advocating and promoting the value that internal audit professionals add to their organizations.
  • Providing comprehensive professional education and development opportunities; standards and other professional practice guidance; and certification programs.
  • Researching, disseminating, and promoting to practitioners and stakeholders knowledge concerning internal auditing and its appropriate role in control, risk management, and governance.
  • Educating practitioners and other relevant audiences on best practices in internal auditing.
  • Bringing together internal auditors from all countries to share information and experiences.

Our Objectives

  • The Chapter is to pursue an Act of Parliament registration which shall make it mandatory for practicing internal auditors in Zambia to register with The Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia Chapter.
  • Regulating the auditing practice through registration and licensing (compulsory through the Bylaws)
  • Providing comprehensive professional educational and development opportunities, standards and other professional practice guidance, and certification programs.
  • Researching, disseminating, and promoting to practitioners and stakeholders knowledge concerning internal auditing and its appropriate role in control, risk management, and governance.
  • Publishing professional journals and magazines.
  • Providing networks for professionals to meet and discuss their field of expertise.
  • Enforcing a Code of Ethics to guide professional behavior.
  • Dealing with complaints against professionals and implementing disciplinary procedures through the Disciplinary Code.
  • Providing career support and opportunities for youths.
  • Accrediting engineering programs.
  • Advocating and promoting the value that internal audit professionals add to their organizations.
  • Bringing together internal auditors from all countries to share information and experiences.
